Everything is happening in the final hours of the “market” in the NBA. After the unbelievable and sensational news of Harden, now in Cleveland, more news has come in, via ESPN, that is jaw-dropping. The Mavericks have agreed to trade 10-time All-Star center Anthony Davis to the Wizards in a’transaction involving as many as eight players designed to free up salary space in Dallas and thus build a new team around rookie Cooper Flagg.

The Mavs sent Davis and guards Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to the Wizards in exchange for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, two first-round picks and three second-round picks. Davis, a bargaining chip in the trade that brought Doncic to the LA Lakers, played only 29 games in a Mavs jersey due to several injuries. He is due $58.5 million next season and has a $62.8 million player option in 2027/28 (he can sign a contract extension in August).

After Young, Washington is also banking on Davis to try to raise the level of the team, although, both are struggling with physical problems. It has also decided to go for a veteran in Toronto, which appears to have its eye on CP3. The point guard, out of the LA Clippers draft, is ready to get back in the game with the Raptors, although, again according to ESPN, he won’t be going to Toronto. The All Star was included in the maxi trade (Nets also involved) just to “make ends meet”. It is likely that he will be “parked” elsewhere.

In contrast, the Golden State Warriors’ decision to give up wing Kuminga and guard Hield to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for veteran center Porzingis is certain. This marks the end of the Warriors’ race for Antetokounmpo, the’other star that has been much talked about in this trade window.

The Warriors hope to have Porzingis back healthy and productive for the post season. He hasn&#8217t played since Jan. 7, but it looks like the former Celtics man is ready to get back on the court. The Warriors have a 27-24 record and are currently eighth in the Western Conference.
