Luciano Darderi is stopped in the final in Buenos Aires. In fact, the ATP 250 tournament played on the clay of the Argentine capital goes to Francisco Cerundolo, the hero of the house, who wins in two sets with a score of 6-4, 6-2. L’azzurro, who has Marche blood in his veins but in turn was born right in Argentina, succumbs in just over an hour and a half of play. Curiously, even in the semifinals he was up against an Argentine tennis player: Sebastian Baez. And, after his victory, part of the audience had even challenged him.

Marco Enzo VenturiniJannik Sinner almost moved, sweet words after the most beautiful victory

Jannik Sinner has been in Doha since Monday to prepare for the Atp 500 in which he will make his debut next week.
At a distance, however, he did not miss Federica Brignone’s extraordinary performance.
The'South Tyrolean, the first Italian to triumph at Wimbledon but with a past as a young promise on skis, commented thus to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"She’s a phenomena. After all he’s been through, to come back and get a result like that is something extraordinary".
"Luckily I have never been out this long for an injury".
"Skiing and tennis are totally different sports because on the slopes, if you get hurt during the season, you&#039re out all year. It's really dangerous as a sport".
Already during the'Australian Open he had addressed words of high praise for his compatriot.
"What Federica did and is doing, beyond the result, to be able to live through the Olympics is something incredible".
"I wish her all the best because I know how much she has struggled, how much she has suffered".
A gold medal that repays all the sacrifices of the'last year.

And still missing is the giant, his favorite test, as Jannik knows well.

Sinner did not participate as a torchbearer in Milan Cortina 2026.

There had been talk of this hypothesis but in the end it didn’t come up at the Opening Ceremony.

The first set is decided as early as the third game, in which Cerundolo breaks serve from Darderi. Break points flocked (the Blue did not exploit three in the fourth game alone), but nothing changed anymore. It&#8217s an entirely different trend in the second set, at least initially: in fact, the first three games experience as many breaks. However, the Italian-Argentine concedes to his rival even the seventh, thus going on to lose on the Buenos Aires clay. A’further mockery for him.

The red clay is indeed the favorite surface of Luciano Darderi, who on this very surface has won four ATP 250 tournaments in his career (Cordoba 2024, Marrakech, BÄstad and Umag 2025). In Melbourne, however, he was able to prove his talent even on the hard surface, beating one after the other such excellent tennis players as Cristian Garin, Sebastian Baez and Karen Khachanov. The Australian dream was cut short before the overpowering Jannik Sinner, winner in three sets in the Italian derby valid for the round of 16.

Born in Villa Gesell, near Buenos Aires, on February 14, 2002 but in Italy since he was 10 years old, Luciano Darderi is the son of former tennis player Gino (who guides him as coach) and brother of Vito Antonio, class of 2008. In his career, in addition to four ATP tournaments, he has also won two ITF tournaments and four Challengers, between 2021 and 2025.

In the most important tournaments on the circuit he is still looking for a level result: the fourth round reached in Australia is so far the most relevant result in this respect at Grand Slam level, in Masters 1000 tournaments he did not go beyond the third round (Shanghai 2025) and in ATP 500s he stopped at most at the second round (Vienna 2024).
