Inter-Palermo 3-1. The Nerazzurri do not miss the Champions League train and move back to -5 points behind third-place Roma. At San Siro, Mancini’s team, revitalized by the fine performance against Juventus in the week, folds the Rosanero with goals from Ljajic, Icardi and Perisic. Sicilians stopped at 27 points, just one length behind third-last Frosinone, and now more at risk than ever.
Inter unlocked the result in the 11th minute with a precise diagonal finish by Ljajic from outside the box, on which Sorrentino could do nothing. The guests did not react and in the 23rd minute Icardi doubled by beating the Palermo goalkeeper in the split on Palacio’s cross. Only in the last half hour did Iachini’s team show signs of life, and on the stroke of 45′ Vazquez, served by Rispoli, inserted himself between Miranda and Murillo and flatly pierced Carrizo.
Resumed, the rosanero’s good intentions are crushed by the Nerazzurri’s trio of goals: at 54′ Icardi from the right hand side sets off a precise cross for Perisic, who on a diving header gives Sorrentino no chance.
After 3-1, Palermo is challenged and Inter slows down the pace, touching the fourth goal with Palacio. In the final minutes space was also made for Brozovic, Biabiany and Melo among the Nerazzurri, the result no longer changing despite final attempts by Brozovic and Perisic.
