Tottenham coach Conte: “I in my career at the end I have always made money, not spend.”

Tottenham coach Antonio Conte in an interview with Sportweek responds to those who claim that he is a coach who makes clubs spend so much in the market, “I have to laugh. Let me say that I in my career at the end I have always made money, not spend.”

“I have often worked with young people who needed to be trained, athletes who were devalued or needed to be rebuilt, players who had never won up to that point. All players who have been revalued, thanks to my work. In my career I have only asked for one player who was paid a lot: Lukaku,” explained the Lecce coach.

“I asked for the Belgian striker based on the targets that were presented to me. The Inter executives came to my house and told me that they wanted to break down the hegemony of Juve and take Inter to the roof of the world, taking advantage of great economic availability. I asked for Lukaku thinking he was fundamental.”

“But also look at how much was resold: almost double, like Hakimi – claimed Conte -. But I could mention the enhancement of Barella, Bastoni, Lautaro, who before my arrival did not play… At Juve I had the pleasure of working with Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini: phenomena, but when I had them they still had not won anything.”
