F1, Helmut Marko downplays Ferrari’s improvements
Helmut Marko belittles Ferrari
After Max Verstappen’s triumphant weekend in Monteal, Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko wanted to have his say on the cars’ performance at the Canadian circuit, which saw Ferrari’s pace better than the Austrian manufacturer’s cars.
“Yes, Ferrari had a better pace than Max,” the former driver admitted to Motorsport.com. Ferrari was a little bit faster. I think our team knows why this happened. But it’s a small thing. If some small factors are not perfect, then the opponents are immediately attacked.”
The Austrians’ executive, however, was keen to point out how this difference in performance was due more to problems on the Dutchman’s car than to the Reds’ improvements, “No, it’s a problem in our technical department, but I can’t give any more information about it.”
