F1: Nico Rosberg, brutal verdict on Carlos Sainz
Former Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is unabashed: “He doesn’t have what it takes to be a champion.”
Former world champion and former Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg at the microphones of Sky Sports expressed his negative opinion on Carlos Sainz’s title chances: “Sainz has proven to be a good driver for Ferrari, but at the moment he does not have what it takes to be a world champion.”
Even the performance in Montreal, where the Iberian finished second, did not convince Rosberg: “It’s a matter of performance, because Leclerc has managed to beat him in practically every race this season. So, I think he still has to make quite a bit of progress to be on the same level as Charles. On the other hand, he is currently quite far behind, and I have to say that it is a bit of a surprise given how things had gone last year. But it’s also true that the car is very different and maybe it takes him some time to come to terms with it.”
