Matteo Berrettini is forced to forfeit. In fact, the Roman tennis player cannot participate in the 2022 edition of Wimbledon due to his Covid positivity.
Announcing this was the player himself on his Instagram profile: “I am heartbroken to announce that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon, being Covid positive,” this was his post. “I have had flu symptoms and have been in isolation for the last few days. I have no words to describe the extreme disappointment I feel. The dream is over for this year, but I will come back stronger.”
Berrettini was scheduled to make his debut later today against Chilean Cristian Garin.
