Acqua S.Bernardo Pallacanestro Cantù has announced the two-year signing of Italian athlete Filippo Baldi Rossi, 30, a 208-centimeter, 101-pound wing-center. Born in Vignola, in the province of Modena, on Oct. 26, 1991, Baldi Rossi played the last two seasons at Pallacanestro Reggiana, reaching the FIBA Europe Cup final last year. Coming out of the prestigious Virtus Bologna youth sector, with which he made his debut in Serie A and of which he was captain in the 2019-’20 season, with the “Vu Nere” he won a Basketball Champions League. In the A Series he has 267 appearances, nearly 1,500 points and more than 800 rebounds. Formerly a member of the Italian national team, with which he collected 19 appearances and took part in EuroBasket 2017, Baldi Rossi also boasts a massive past in the Azzurri in terms of youth: in all, he participated in five European under, two of them with the U20, winning a silver medal in 2011, in Bilbao.

Baldi Rossi is a classic example of the modern long man, with dual dimensions, strong at rebounding and very dangerous from three-point range. A perimeter four, then, gifted with an excellent hand from outside, as indeed testified by his percentages kept in his career; in Serie A he boasts 37 percent scoring, in EuroCup 38 percent and in the last FIBA Europe Cup season he was even scoring with 41.4 percent from three.

The new coach of the Brianza team, Meo Sacchetti, spoke about the new acquisition: “With the signing of Baldi Rossi we sign an experienced, versatile profile with a very good three-point shot. Basically, Filippo is someone who knows how to play basketball and this is what we need; moreover, having already coached him in the national team during the European Championship qualifiers, I know well his technical skills and I know what he can bring to the team.”
