Filippo Ganna makes no peace: “I didn’t feel comfortable.”
Verbania’s words after the disappointment in Copenhagen
Hoping to wear the yellow jersey on his absolute debut in the Tour, he ended up having to settle for a placing due mainly to a wheel problem: a tremendous disappointment for Filippo Ganna, who at the microphones of ‘Rai Sport’ did not hide all his disappointment with the outcome of the Copenhagen time trial.
“That’s what happened,” he began, dejectedly. “At what point did the wheel deflate? I didn’t notice it, it just happened and when I realized it I just tried to limit the damage. Plus, with the rain, I didn’t feel comfortable, especially in the corners.”
The weather unknown affected Ganna’s race as much as the mechanical problem, then: “At the beginning it was supposed to be dry, then it rained instead,” he said. “We cannot recriminate anything, we will come back stronger. The yellow jersey? We will see the course over the next few days and as a team we will make our assessments.”
