Sinner is youngest Italian to Wimbledon round of 16 in Open era

Jannik Sinner’s march in the Wimbledon men’s tournament continues: in the third round, the South Tyrolean defeated John Isner (No. 24 in the Atp rankings) 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-3, in two hours and 23 minutes of play. A great satisfaction for Sinner, who thus becomes the youngest Italian to reach the eighth round of the London slam in the Open era.

Awaiting him in the next act of the tournament will be another phenomenon of the new generation of racquet champions, Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard, in fact, overcame in turn the German Oscar Otte in three sets: 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 the final score of the match.

Between the two there is only one previous match on the Atp circuit, dating back to the Paris Masters 1000 in 2021: in that match Alcaraz won a very balanced match (7-6, 7-5) in two sets.
