Cantù officiates Roko Rogic

Acqua S.Bernardo Pallacanestro Cantù, through an official note, announced the signing of Roko Rogic: “Acqua S.Bernardo Pallacanestro Cantù is pleased to announce that it has signed Croatian athlete Roko Rogic to a two-year agreement. 30 years old to turn next Sept. 25, a native of Zagreb, Rogic is a 187-centimeter, 83-pound point guard.”

“Last season he split his time between the Hungarian league wearing the Szolnoki jersey, with which he participated in the FIBA Europe Cup, and the Polish league, finishing the year with Torun. In Poland he averaged 15.5 points, with 39.3 percent from three, 4.5 rebounds and 6 assists in 17 regular season games, moving, then, to 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists per game during the playoffs. In the last two years he has become a permanent member of the Croatian national team, participating in all EuroBasket, Olympic and World Cup qualifiers; in the youth sphere, on the other hand, he has taken part in four European Championships, one with the U16, one with the U18 and two with the U20. Rogic’s participation in European club cups is also diverse: in addition to the aforementioned FIBA Europe Cup, he has also played in the Basketball Champions League and Eurocup during his career. Finally, there are three trophies on his palmarès: a Croatian championship, a Czech one and a national cup won also in the Czech Republic.”

“Among the playmakers we screened,” commented coach Meo Sacchetti, “Roko is certainly the one who convinced us the most, we liked him right away. He is good at involving his teammates but, at the same time, he can also make the basket with some frequency. Without mincing words, we think we got a very good player.”

“I am very happy to have chosen Cantù,” Rogic added, “a team that certainly has a great tradition. So I want to thank the club and the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play for them. I am familiar with the A2 championship and I also know what the club’s expectations are; I am ready to work and do my best to experience a successful season all together.”
