Strands in Tortona

Niccolò Filoni is a new player for Bertram Derthona: the Piedmontese club announces that it has reached an agreement with the 2001-class forward who just returned from his experience at Kleb Basket Ferrara.

Born in L’Aquila (AQ) on March 11, 2001, Filoni took his first steps in the minibasket and youth sector of Nuovo Basket Aquilano. Niccolò then continued his career in the youth sector of Oxygen Bassano, a club with which he also made his debut at the senior level, in Veneto’s Serie C Gold.

In the summer of 2018 he wears the jersey of the National 3×3 Under 18 team participating in the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. On that occasion he won the bronze medal in the dunk contest. In 2019 Filoni is captain of the Italy Under 18 team that finishes ninth at the European Championships in their category held in Greece. In 2019/20 he plays in Rieti, his first adventure in A2, scoring an average of 3.6 points per game.

In the last two years, he takes the court with Kleb Basket Ferrara (A2 Series), helping to reach the playoffs in both seasons. Now he comes to Bertram Derthona to start a new chapter in his career.

“We were looking for a player who had potential to explore and, at the same time, the intelligence and maturity to understand, accept and grow in the role we were proposing to him,” Ramondino said. “Niccolò responds to this identikit. He is a young player, 21 years old, who has several years of experience in top performing teams in A2. We are aware that the impact with Serie A can be hard, but his mentality and predisposition to team play will be important qualities for our team and to allow him to establish himself at the highest level.”
