Wimbledon, Cameron Norrie catches up with Novak Djokovic
The other quarterfinal match played Tuesday also ends in the fifth set
It will be Cameron Norrie who will challenge Novak Djokovic for a place in the final of the Wimbledon men’s tournament. In fact, the British tennis player managed to overcome the David Goffin obstacle in the quarters in five sets: 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 were the partials of the match, which lasted more than three and a half hours, allowing Norrie to advance to the semifinals.
In spite of the difference in ranking, the Belgian (No. 58 Atp) created quite a few headaches for his opponent, who occupies box number 12 in the world rankings: twice he managed to go ahead by a set, but in the top moments he never managed to sink the blow, suffering the decisive break in the 11th game of the last set, which preceded the game that then allowed Norrie to close the match in his favor.
Between Djokovic and Norrie there is only one previous match on the Atp circuit, in the round robin of the 2021 Finals: on the concrete in Turin it was the Serb who won, by a clear 6-2, 6-1.
