F1, Marko mocks Ferrari: “Grateful for Leclerc-Sainz duel”
Red Bull adviser: “We were amazed by the Leclerc-Sainz duel.”
Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko candidly admitted that he did not expect the infighting between the two Ferrari drivers in the early stages of the sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix.
“Ferrari was very close to us. But fortunately for us they fought with each other. We accept this with slight astonishment, but also with gratitude because this gave Max a two-second lead and from then on he led the race alone.”
The Red Bull executive to Speedweek then pointed out one aspect of the medium tires: “They lasted longer than we thought. We will see based on the temperatures whether one or two stops can be made. Finally Perez, from thirteenth on the grid to fifth overall, is more than we expected.”
