News as long-awaited as it is unencouraging for Roger Federer.
The Swiss champion, who hasn’t played since the 2021 Wimbledon tournament (he was defeated in the quarterfinals by Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz), ended up out of the ATP rankings.
Federer, who no longer has any ranking points, had been in the rankings since 1997.It is not yet clear if and when he will make his return to the court, although his presence has been announced at both the Laver Cup (Sept. 23-25) and the Basel tournament (Oct. 24-30). King Roger will blow out 41 candles on August 8.
