Tour de France, Vingegaard devastates Pogacar: “Plan studied”
New yellow jersey exults: ‘I haven’t realized yet, it’s incredible’
Spectacular feat by Jonas Vingegaard in the 11th stage of the Tour de France. The Jumbo-Visma rider snatched the yellow jersey from the hitherto unassailable Tadej Pogacar thanks to an amazing strategy set up in the morning: “I haven’t realized yet, it’s incredible. I can’t find the words, it’s what I’ve always dreamed of. To take stage and jersey is an incredible thing,” are the words to Eurosport.
Vingegaard revealed the plan put together with Roglic: “We had a plan since this morning and you saw it. We wanted to make the race very hard from the beginning, we thought this could favor us. I would never have been able to gain this time without my teammates. On the Galibier he was still going really strong and almost pulled away from all of us. I wasn’t sure if he was already going full throttle or not. Then at the end I thought ‘if I don’t try I will never win.’ I already got a second place last year, this year I want to try to win,” said Vingegaard, who now has a margin of 2 minutes and 22 seconds over Pogacar.
