Ferrari Rex inspires a series on the Drake

Ferrari Rex, Luca Dal Monte’s best-selling book published for Giorgio Nada Editore, is the book that will inspire an Apple TV series on the Drake produced by Oscar winner Paolo Sorrentino.

The series will be titled “Ferrari” and will be directed by director Stefano Sollima (formerly known for the “Gomorra” series and the film “Soldado”) with a screenplay by Steven Knight (creator of “Peaky Blinders”) and historical advice from the author of the monumental as well as highly praised and award-winning biography of the founder of the Maranello-based company.

Six episodes focus on a crucial period in Enzo Ferrari’s life. Between 1956 and 1961, deeply wounded by the death of his son Dino and what he considered a betrayal by his top driver, Juan Manuel Fangio, Ferrari rebuilt his team from scratch by selecting five promising rising stars of motor racing to lead them to victory.

Pre-production is already underway in Rome.

The series is produced by Apple Studios for The Apartment Pictures, a Fremantle company, in co-production with Nicola Giuliano for Indigo Film and Fremantle. Executive producers are Lorenzo Mieli, Nicola Giuliano, Steven Knight, Paolo Sorrentino, Giulio Marantonio, Lorenzo De Maio, and Stefano Sollima.
