Papapetrou is bianconero. But not from Virtus Bologna
Papapetrou goes to Partizan
Ioannis Papapetrou will wear the Bianconeri colors. But not those of Virtus Bologna.
The Greek, who had also been approached by the Bologna team in recent days, was officially announced by Partizan Belgrade as a new reinforcement.
The Hellenic forward lands in Zeljko Obradovic’s court after five seasons spent at Olympiacos and four at Panathinaikos. Papapetrou was a free agent.
Last season, the team coached by coach Sergio Scariolo saw the Scudetto won in 2021 slip away only in the playoff final, lost 4-2 to Olimpia Milano.
Although the Felsinei failed to sew the tricolor on their chest for the second consecutive time, the Bologna-based team had finished the regular season in first place, just ahead of the meneghini.
The climax of the Vu Nere’s year, however, came on May 11, with the conquest of the Eurocup, won in the final against the Turkish Bursaspor. This success gave Scariolo’s men a free pass to the 2022-23 Euroleague season, a competition the Bolognese had not participated in for 14 years.
