World Athletics Championships, Gimbo Tamberi disappointment: ‘I have to think about healing’
No medal for Italian not in top condition
Tamberi struggled but, in the end, had to settle for fourth place in the high jump final at the World Athletics Championships. The Italian jumped 2.33, a measurement that did not allow him to go for medals. Gold went to Barshim, Woo took home the silver while the bronze was won by Ukraine’s Protsenko.
The Olympic champion commented on his event as follows, “I put my heart and soul into it, too bad because this time it was not enough, I take home that I was an example of resilience for Italy. The gold at the World Championships will come. If I make fourth in this condition, it can only come. In the meantime, I want to get better. Monaco is a different goal than the World Cup, I will be there and I want to win but first I have to think about healing.”
