Italian soccer is mourning the passing of Luciano Nizzola, a former executive of the Lega Calcio, the FIGC and also of Torino.
“Luciano Nizzola, president of the Lega Calcio from 1987 to 1996, left us this afternoon at the age of 89. Under his management, Italian soccer experienced one of its best periods, in Europe and in the world. Nizzola, a lawyer by profession, was later also president of the FIGC until 2000. The entire Lega Serie A expresses its deepest condolences to his family members, joining them in their grief at his passing,” reads the note released by the Lega Serie A.
