The Slovenian makes no secret of regret

It was not an easy day for Tadej Pogacar on Thursday: in the stage starting in Lourdes and finishing in Hautacam, the Slovenian crashed on the descent, sportingly expected by Jonas Vingegaard, before finally giving way on the final ascent, and finishing 1’04” behind the yellow jersey, capable of winning the stage and mortgaging the Tour de France 2022.

“Today I gave everything,” the UAE Team Emirates rider told his team’s channels. I wanted to give my best to try to win the yellow jersey. In the second climb I did everything I could and then unfortunately I fell right on the descent. I wanted to try again on the last climb but second place is the best I could get in the end and I can only be proud of what I did.”

“It definitely didn’t help to lose so many teammates over the past few weeks, but Jonas still proved to be the strongest,” Pogacar added. Between now and Paris I still want to give it my all and maybe aim for another win on Saturday.
