French GP, Max Verstappen pinpoints Red Bull’s weak point
Pulled smile for Dutchman and teammate Perez
On paper, the second and third places obtained riapectively by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in qualifying for the French GP is a more than decent result, but at the microphones of the international director’s office the two Red Bull drivers showed a rather pulled smile.
Verstappen first clarified what his car lacks: “There is a difference between FP3 and qualifying,” said the reigning world champion. “Today we clearly lacked something in terms of grip, even though we have a good car. On the other hand we are fast in the straights, so hopefully we can take advantage of that in the race. But the Ferraris are very fast.”
“I didn’t understand anything about the weekend,” added the other Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez, between the serious and the facetious. “However, we recovered well in qualifying. The goal for tomorrow? To get ahead of the Ferraris: they are strong but we will try.”
