Volleyball Nations League: men’s Italvolley misses podium finish
Azzurri underwhelmed in final against Poland
After losing in the semifinals against France, men’s volleyball Italy suffers another 0-3 loss in the bronze medal final against Poland and thus misses its appointment with the podium at the 2022 edition of the Volleyball Nations League.
In the setting of the Unipol Arena in Bologna, Fefè De Giorgi’s Azzurri looked underwhelming from the very first bars and the final score fully reflected this: the Poles in fact dominated the first set 25-16, repelled the Azzurri’s assault in the second winning 25-23 and closed the games in the third fraction with prevailing 25-20.
Still no blue medal, then, since the Volleyball Nations League was introduced in the international calendar. instead, for Poland it is the third consecutive presence on the podium, after the bronze medal in 2019 and the silver medal in 2021 (in 2020 the VNL was not played due to Covid).
