F1 Ferrari: Charles Leclerc and a worrying negative record
Charles Leclerc is third worst in history in pole-to-win percentage
Charles Leclerc could hit his eighth pole position of the season in the Hungarian Grand Prix, which would allow him to surpass, at just over halfway through the World Championship, his record of first places on the grid in a single season (7 in 2019).
Unfortunately for Ferrari, the Monegasque driver’s strength in qualifying is not reflected in the number of Grands Prix then won. Charles Leclerc has to deal with a bad record: among drivers with at least 12 pole positions without a win, Leclerc is the third with the worst percentage in Formula 1 history (75 percent of his poles without a win), after Nelson Piquet (19-79.2 percent) and René Arnoux (16-88.9 percent).
