F1, Mattia Binotto sets Ferrari goals for next race
“Our goal in Hungary should not be a win, but a one-two finish.”
Reduced by the bitter epilogue of the French GP – whose only satisfaction was the comeback of Carlos Sainz, who pushed up to fifth place overall – Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto immediately wants to turn the page. The tight schedule immediately allows him to take the long-awaited revenge: and against Red Bull and critics.
Speaking at the microphones of F1.com, the sports executive presented the next round, the Hungaroring, in this way: “If you ask me now what the gap in the standings is before the Hungarian GP, I cannot tell you. I don’t look at the standings now. What I want to focus on is thinking about every single race and extracting the maximum from it. Unfortunately in Le Castellet it didn’t go like that, but the season is not over yet,” Binotto began.
“There is always something to improve and learn, and this is our approach. We are progressing and improving. Even in France we showed that we have a fast and competitive car: it is fantastic and kind with the tires. The drivers are also doing a great job. As seen in France we have full confidence in our package, and we want confirmation in Budapest as well, which is a key stage to turn the page. I see many reasons for us to be positive: our goal at the Hungaroring should not be a win, but a one-two,” he concluded.
