PSG triumphs, but Gianluigi Donnarumma delivers thrills
Clean sheet for the former Milan goalkeeper, who, however, still does not fully convince.
The PSG of stars – and the market is not over yet – cashes in its first trophy of the season by asphalting Nantes in the French Super Cup final: 4-0 the final result, with Neymar’s double and goals from Messi and Sergio Ramos.
At last the Pulga and the Brazilian seem to have returned to the levels admired when they paired in Barcelona: a goal apiece in the first half and the match addressed. Then if Sergio Ramos (author of the third goal) also scores, everything comes too easy.
On the other hand, it was a match with two faces for Gianluigi Donnarumma: he made a sensational intervention on Blas’ left-footed shot when the score was still 0-0. Afterwards, the Azzurri goalkeeper is not much engaged, but still finds a way to cash in on the crticism of many Parisian fans on social media. The reason? The constant levity when he is called upon to play the ball with his feet.
On Twitter, with the game already on ice, there have been several comments from Parisian devotees wondering how it is possible to have shivers down the spine whenever the goalkeeper is engaged in getting the action going from behind. Or more simply when he simply has to defer the ball. More than one fan claims that the ‘Benzema syndrome’ – no one has forgotten the glaring mistake in the Champions’ round of 16 match at the Bernabeu – is still unfolding its effects.
