The left-hander is not satisfied with having battled evenly with Carlos Alcaraz.

Starting from the qualifiers and going all the way to the semifinals of an ATP 250 tournament – prior to the competition on Croatian soil, the Roman tennis player had never won a match on the major circuit – Giulio Zeppieri experienced a magical week, to say the least, in Umag. After battling virtually evenly with Carlos Alcaraz, the left-hander also surrendered due to cramps. Inevitable almost, considering the enormous physical effort put in to face the baby phenomenon of world tennis.

“It was an intense week full of emotions,” Zeppieri began to the Livetennis.it microphones. “Every day was a different battle from which I could have come out defeated: however, I overcame very tough rounds, and I am really happy with the level I expressed from the beginning to the end of my adventure. I always kept my focus high by playing all the points with the right attitude and great mental strength.”

“This result is the fruit of the work and commitment of the last few months in training-I am really very satisfied. The match against Alcaraz? Very difficult and hard-fought: it was great to show the whole world that I can play at such a high level of tennis. But now we definitely have to keep working to relive such strong emotions as soon as possible,” he concluded.
