F1 Ferrari, Mattia Binotto defies criticism: ‘Failed one race’
Ferrari team principal Binotto: “In the 13 races held so far, we have only failed one race.”
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto made a positive assessment of the Maranello team’s first half of the season, despite the controversy: “The balance of this first part of Ferrari’s season can only be positive. In the 13 races held so far we have failed in only one race. In others we have not won for various reasons. Sometimes they have also been frustrating, with disappointment, and we deserved far better results. But in 12 out of 13 races we have been there always fighting for victory,” are the words in the debriefing reported by Motorsport.
“I think the balance can only be positive,” the Cavallino executive insisted, “even if the disappointment of Hungary remains and we will have to figure out how to intervene to make sure it doesn’t happen again. The goals remain unchanged. We want to be competitive in every race and try to win every race. We will return to racing after the summer break with one desire: to try to win every race and bring home as many wins as possible.”
“The championships are mathematically still open, and even the Constructors’ championship should not be forgotten. That’s not to say we can’t have our say. Even before all that, though, we have to analyze what happened in Hungary. If we understand it, we can become competitive again for sure.”
