Lewis Hamilton takes up American football
Major new investment for British champion
As of today, Lewis Hamilton joins the world of NFL football. In fact, the seven-time world champion has joined the ownership group of the Denver Broncos, a franchise with a great tradition in American football capable of winning three Super Bowl editions in its history, most recently in the 2015/16 season.
Announcing Hamilton’s entry among the owners was Rob Walton, representing the Walton-Penner group that owns the Broncos: “We are delighted to welcome seven-time Formula 1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our group,” reads a note released on Tuesday. “He is a champion who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and is a proud representative of global equality, even in his own sport.
“With more than 100 race wins, Lewis is considered one of F1’s most successful drivers,” the statement continued. “His resilient spirit and the standard of excellence he represents will be an asset to franchise ownership and the Broncos organization.
