Coppa Italia: Samp, Udinese and Cagliari ok, Lecce falls to surprise
Friday’s Italian Cup results
Two of the three Serie A teams involved in Friday’s Coppa Italia qualified for the next round: Sampdoria and Udinese overcame Reggina and FeralpiSalò, respectively, while newly promoted Lecce fell at home against Cittadella in extra time.
At Marassi, Samp made good on a penalty kick by Sabiri in the 67th minute: Reggina saw a goal scored by Crisetig cancelled out by Var in the 80th minute, while in the 89th minute they wasted a great chance for the equalizer when Cicerelli had a shot neutralized from the penalty spot by Audero’s fine save.
At the Dacia Arena, Udinese suffers not a little against FeralpiSalò, despite the double advantage formed by Deulofeu on a penalty kick in the 12th minute and Success in the 64th minute: Siligardi, in the 67th minute, shortens the distance and the Lombardi believe in it, but Sottil’s men resist until the end and bring home the success.
The surprise of the evening comes instead from the Via del Mare: Lecce ahead with Strefezza in the 61′, Asencio scores Cittadella’s 1-1 in the 73′ and the result does not change until the triple whistle. The Veneti, in extra time, are dragged by Tounkara, on goal in the 93′ and 100′: Colombo’s goal in the 106′ is useless, Cittadella passes.
Also on the field on Friday were two Serie B clubs, Cagliari and Perugia: the islanders won, 3-2, thanks to Altare’s goal in the 2nd minute and the goals scored by Lapadula (on a penalty kick) in the 80th minute and Viola in the 89th minute, which were useful in coming back from Umbrian goals by Melchiorri in the 32nd minute and Serio in the 67th minute.
