F1, Toto Wolff’s message scares Ferrari

A message intended to scare off the competition.

Mercedes experienced several months of huge problems in 2022, performance-wise and otherwise. It is no mystery that the Brackley team’s lag behind Red Bull and Ferrari was also due in large part to the infamous porpoising, the excessive hopping that characterized the single-seaters of George Russell and especially Lewis Hamilton. This problem, however, according to Toto Wolff is essentially overcome.

“This problem ruined our season, because we didn’t have a chance to develop the Mercedes W13. We lost months of development, because when we tried to increase the load, the car bounced. That’s why we are so far behind Ferrari and Red Bull, but now we have arrived at the summer break without suffering from porpoising anymore,” admitted Toto Wolff.

“Clearly we continue to miss the months we lost because of this problem. But after Barcelona the situation has definitely become positive for us,” the Mercedes team principal added. And the results on the track are already showing to that effect, with Ferrari thus being able to call itself already on notice.
