Matteo Berrettini will play in the coming weeks for participation in the Turin Finals

This week sees the start of Matteo Berrettini’s North American triptych, who in a month will participate in the Montreal and Cincinnati Masters 1000 and the Us Open, hoping to recover valuable points after a drop in the rankings. These are the words of coach Vincenzo Santopadre: “We have arrived at a crucial junction of the season, now we can no longer stop,” he told Corriere dello Sport. “Three years ago he had an ankle problem and did not take the court, last year he was stopped by a muscle soreness at that time, in 2020 instead the circuit smoked because of Covid. We have our fingers crossed for our first time in Canada.”

On the drop in the rankings, mostly due to external situations, no anxiety: “He has already shown he can sit at the table with the greatest, but it doesn’t have to be an obsession. When you get this high you can get dizzy and ask yourself so many questions. Real doubts might have been there in 2020, not anymore today. If you overcome so many obstacles and stay in the top 10 for three years in a row something must mean something. The important thing is to work well, the results will come accordingly
