MotoGp in trouble without Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez: data from Silverstone
British Grand Prix recorded low spectator turnout, MotoGp on alert
Spectacle on the track at Silverstone, with lots of overtaking and battles from the first to the last lap of the MotoGp British Grand Prix, but the setting in the stands was not up to the task. In fact, MotoGp was forced to record a sharp drop in attendance, with just 40,000 spectators for Sunday’s race, 100,000 overall for the weekend: the third worst figure in World 2022, and the worst weekend in Silverstone’s history for motorcycles.
The absence of acclaimed champions such as Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez, and the lack of competitive British riders on the grid weighed, and the numbers are back to give pause to Dorna and Carmelo Ezpeleta, who a few months ago complained about poor spectator turnout at Mugello.
