Rowing, here are the 60 started for Munich
In 60 in Munich
On their way to Munich, the Olympic and Paralympic national rowing teams have set off to take part in the European Absolute European Championships from August 11 to 14, this year taking place with eight other disciplines on the rowing dock at the Olympic Regatta Center. A rowing venue rich in tradition where the 1972 Olympics, the 1981 and 2007 Absolute World Championships and as many as 13 World Cup regattas were held between 1998 and 2012. As for the Italian team, under the orders of Technical Director Francesco Cattaneo, this is made up of 60 athletes including men (34) and women (26), 54 of whom belong to the Senior and Lightweight categories and 6 to the Pararowing category.
A team distributed among the 19 registered crews (11 seniors: six female and five male; 6 lightweights: three female and three male; and 2 pararowers) who will compete for as many Continental titles. Among the novelties of this edition, in addition to some formations seen at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and revisited for the occasion, the presence of the two women’s and men’s flagships stands out, and on the latter are also embarked Marco Di Costanzo, Matteo Lodo, Giuseppe Vicino and Matteo Castaldo, bronze medal winners at the Japanese Olympic Games. Also during the holding of the European multisport event, CONI will implement Casa Italia Collection, which will support the federations in promoting their respective disciplines and thus also rowing.
