Cycling, Daniele Bennati speaks out on the eve of the European Championships
Blue coach asks for patience
Daniele Bennati makes no secret of his excitement for what will be his first major event as national team coach, the European Championships in Munich.
Speaking to ‘Il Giornale,’ the Italian coach did not hide natural dreams and ambitions for what are his role and the tricolor cycling tradition, but he also warned fans and insiders with clear words: “We have to be patient, many guys like Sonny (Colbrelli, ed.) are stopped for health issues, others have to grow. There is an important generational change taking place and we have to give them time.”
In alphabetical order, those summoned for the road race are Baroncini, Dainese, Ganna, Guarnieri, Milan, Mozzato, Nizzolo and Trentin. “There are also interesting young people,” Bennati explained, “but it is equally true that they need to gain experience, to verify themselves and grow in peace. For my Italy it will be a transitional European, our goals are aimed at the Paris 2024 Games.”
