It’s Roma-Lazio already: Mourinho-Sarri, fiery repartee
Sarri and Mourinho don’t mince words in press conference on the eve of Roma and Napoli’s league debut
Sparks immediately flew between Roma and Lazio on the eve of the Serie A debuts of the two Roman teams with Salernitana and Bologna, respectively. José Mourinho in a press conference had lit the fuse by talking about the market: “Candidates for the Scudetto? I have to applaud the club because they brought 5 players of the highest quality for only 7 million, but I don’t sell or tell stories. I tell the truth. And the truth is that it should not be said that we are candidates for the Scudetto. Lazio spent 39 million: why is it not said that they are candidates as well?”
Maurizio Sarri’s response came in a close call a little later: “For me, a second place by Roma would be a disappointment – the Biancocelesti coach’s dig -. We have not spent, but we have invested. It is Roma that has spent. However, I thank Mourinho for the great trust in me, I hope to please him.”
