Serie A, Milan’s first win. Atalanta also does well
Milan and Atalanta’s successes usher in Serie A 2022/23
Serie A 2022/23 opened with Milan’s successes at home against Udinese 4-2 and Atalanta’s 2-0 win at Sampdoria.
For the Rossoneri, who began at the San Siro the defense of the title they won last season, the match against the Friulani set off anything but well: Rodrigo Becao, in fact, confirmed himself as the black beast of the Meneghina team and signed the 0-1 after not even two minutes of play.
It doesn’t take long, however, to see the reaction of Pioli’s team: in the 11th minute Theo Hernandez equalizes on a disputed penalty (dubious intervention by Soppy on Calabria), in the 15th minute Rebic signs the 2-1 and makes the home crowd explode, which, however, is silenced in the middle of the first half recovery when Adam Masina beats Maignan for the 2-2.
In the second half, however, Milan found the decisive acceleration: a few seconds after the kickoff it was Brahim Diaz who allowed the Rossoneri to put their heads back ahead, and in the 68th minute Ante Rebic signed his personal double and closed the accounts for good.
In the other match that started at 6:30 p.m. Gasperini’s Atalanta beat Sampdoria with one goal per half: Toloi put the Nerazzurri ahead in the 26th minute, new signing Ademola Lookman scored the safety goal in the 95th minute. The match was characterized, however, by strong recriminations from the hosts, who contested the goal cancelled at 0-0 in the 14th minute by Francesco Caputo.
