Vincenzo Italiano extols one over all

At the end of the challenge won against Cremonese, Vincenzo Italiano appeared in the press conference: “I am overjoyed, starting with a victory was our goal. Starting the league with three points is never easy or obvious, also in view of the Conference we had to keep some players fresh and polished for Thursday. As well as a few adapted ones, like Benassi. We could have done more in the second half, because last year we took better advantage of numerical superiority.”

The purple coach had some honeyed words for Luka Jovic: “Very good in the first half, I preferred to keep him on the field to continue to give him minutes and grow a physical condition of his that is not yet 100%. I am happy, a striker has to score goals, he worked very well tying up the game even in the first half. He could have scored even 2 or 3 goals. It had been a while since he was on the field for ninety minutes, this choice was made to send him over the threshold, fatigue and raise his condition. Looking ahead to Thursday we’ll see, we have players who will be 100 percent, fresh, rested.”

“I did not like the fact that in numerical superiority Cremonese put us more in apprehension in those minutes there than in the first half. Last year we were almost perfect from this point of view, today was the first of the championship and we had many adapted as well as some not at the top. But then we won, and for what we created it can be,” Italiano concluded.
