Camila Giorgi, Cincinnati skips big challenge: what happened
An unexpected, schedule-changing change on American soil.
Camila Giorgi at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati was expected to have a fiery debut, with the very delicate challenge against an outclass like Bianca Andreescu already scheduled for the first round and for the day on August. All this, however, was skipped at the last moment.
In fact, the Canadian decided to declare a forfeit, canceling her participation in the Cincinnati tournament. However, this is not an automatic passage to the round for Camila Giorgi, who will have to play the match initially scheduled with Andreescu in any case, but challenging a qualifier or a lucky loser.
Certainly good news for Camila Giorgi, who had drawn a particularly unforgiving draw in Cincinnati. In fact, after Bianca Andreescu, Jessica Pegula, already able to defeat her in Toronto, awaited her. The lower part of the scoreboard, then, presents in fact a very high number of great champions. In fact, the Marche’s side features Viktoria Azarenka, Serena Williams and Emma Raducanu, who could face each other in the second round and are potentially the Marche’s opponents in the third. Also on the same slice of the scoreboard are Venus Williams, Karolina Pliskova, Anett Kontaveit and Aryna Sabalenka.
