Juve overwhelms Sassuolo: Di Maria puts on a show but then gets hurt
Bittersweet night for Juventus: Di Maria puts on a show with Vlahovic but then leaves due to injury
Juventus overwhelmed Sassuolo 3-0 in their Serie A opener but could not rejoice as Angel Di Maria was forced out during the second half due to an adductor injury.
The Argentine, making his debut, was the soul of the Bianconeri in the Allianz Stadium match. In fact, after a complicated start by the hosts, it was he who unblocked the challenge in the 26th minute, off a counterbalance after a South American-style action finished by Cuadrado and Danilo. The lead gave confidence to the Bianconeri, who doubled with Vlahovic on a penalty kick in the 45th minute, awarded for a foul by Ferrari on the former Fiorentina player. In the second half, again Vlahovic armored the result, signing the trio on an assist from the unleashed Di Maria.
Then the injury that froze the Stadium: the former Psg came out on his feet but visibly sore from an adductor problem. Quiet end of management for Juve, but Allegri’s thoughts were all for Di Maria: the hope is that the Argentine stopped in time.
