Simona Quadarella is amazing: eighth gold and resounding record
Simona Quadarella puts on a show in Rome
Simona Quadarella makes history in Rome: the Italian swimmer is the first Italian swimmer to score eight golds at the European Swimming Championships. The Roman athlete, after winning the 800 meters at the beginning of the kermesse, also triumphed in the 1500 meters event, setting an incredible new record.
Quadarella, who finished first ahead of Hungary’s Viktoria Mihalyvari and the other Italian Martina Rita Caramignoli, expressed her happiness this way: “I’m happy, even here I was worth something less as a time, but I was tired and alone it’s difficult. It’s nice to win here, with Martina third: both of them Roman, it had already happened in Budapest, but here it has another flavor. A special thought? To my family and my coach, my medals are the fruit of the work of so many people.”
