Camila Giorgi, lights out. Trevisan also knocked out
Camila Giorgi and Martina Trevisan immediately out in the first round of the WTA 1000
A day to forget for the Italian women tennis players in Cincinnati: Camila Giorgi and Martina Trevisan were defeated in the first round of the WTA 1000 tournament. The Maceratese was eliminated by Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (No. 74 in the rankings) with a score of 6-4 5-7 6-4 in a hard-fought, up-and-down match that lasted more than 2 1/2 hours. Giorgi alternated moments of dominance with resounding blackouts that cost her the match.
Trevisan had to surrender in two sets, 7-6, 7-5, to Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya and she too was forced to say goodbye to the U.S. tournament immediately.
