Rafa Nadal explains Carlos Alcaraz’s troubles
Nadal on Alcaraz: “I am not worried about him, now he is no longer an outsider and rivals know you”
Rafa Nadal in a press conference in Cincinnati explained Carlos Alcaraz’s recent defeats, “He has a very prepared team following him, so I’m not worried about him. I have no advice for him on how to handle the pressure.”
“When you’re an outsider your ranking improves quickly, the opponents don’t know you well, and you play as calmly as you can. Then there comes a day when you realize that you have become one of the best in the world and your approach changes, as does that of your rivals. So you think you are obliged to win, especially against those opponents who are behind you in the rankings. But only one player lifts the trophy at the end of the week,” are the words reported by tennisworlditalia.
Alcaraz still got off to a strong start on the night in Cincinnati, winning in his debut against McDonald in two sets 6-3, 6-2.
