Clamorous hoax for the Italian 4×100 relay team, which was convinced that it had achieved a time to qualify for the final of the European Athletics Championships and, therefore, could play for a place on the podium, but instead was excluded after a more unique than rare decision by the judges.

After upholding an appeal for damage in the semifinals, the Video referee in fact allowed Turkey to redo, by running alone, the semifinal: the Turkish quartet achieved a time of 38″98, 4 hundredths faster than the time of the Azzurri, who were thus bypassed in the repechage rankings and excluded from the final.

Therefore, the effort of a couple of hours earlier by the Italian fractionalists, who were forced, among other things, to do without Marcell Jacobs at the last second, stopped by the exacerbation of a calf problem, was to no avail: Turkey goes to the final, Italy is out.
