MotoGp, Marco Melandri alarmed over variant: ‘Very dangerous’
Marco Melandri rejects track modification at Red Bull Ring
The modification of the Red Bull Ring for the MotoGp Austrian Grand Prix has raised a lot of criticism in the paddock and among insiders. The organizers, in order to slow down the bikes (in 2020 there was a terrible accident involving Zarco and Morbidelli, who almost ran over Vinales and Valentino Rossi), inserted a variant between Turn 1 and Turn 3 that did not convince everyone.
Very critical is former centaur Marco Melandri, who has been vocal on social media: “I’m afraid it’s even more dangerous than before, it’s even easier to cut the track and the wall in case of a long is very close. You start the braking with the bike even more bent to the left than in the old layout and the variant turns to the right … really the worst condition, we really hope it never rains.”
