F1 Ferrari, Mattia Binotto confesses, “Sometimes I get depressed.”
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto: “Some problems you never want to see.”
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto at Motorsport’s microphones confided what has been on his mind since the engine troubles that have penalized Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz several times this season. “Seeing smoke coming out of the car is never nice, there is a feeling of depression.”
“When you’re leading the race, as Charles was the leader in Baku but we can also mention Carlos in Austria, these are problems you never want to see,” Binotto continued. “I remain calm, but believe me, in those moments I’m depressed, it takes you a while to try to react, but then you understand that you have to think about the next steps, about what needs to be done. And not only in technical terms, but also in terms of the team. And so you think, how can I help? So I immediately start making sure everyone stays calm and focused, and protected from outside attacks and comments as well.”
