Basketball in mourning: Alex Hottejan has died
Alex Hottejan, a basketball promise in the 1980s, has died in a Sassari hospital. According to Repubblica reports, the 57-year-old had recently undergone delicate liver surgery. In Italy we mostly remember him with the jerseys of Biella and Turin, but in the ’93-’94 season he was among the protagonists of Santa Croce Olbia’s promotion to B1.
After basketball, Hottejan continued to live between Piedmont and Sardinia, most recently stationed in Sassari, where he also worked as a dog instructor, coadjutor of the dog in IAA paragility technician and collaborating as a handler with the Poison Control Dog Unit of the Forestry Corps.
