“The road to Paris is going on like a god,” said an enthusiastic Paltrinieri

After putting three golds and a silver medal around his neck between the pool and open water races at the European Championships in Rome, Gregorio Paltrinieri confirmed himself as one of the spearheads of Italian swimming. The disappointment of seventh place in the 10km open water distance race – the one in which Domenico Acerenza triumphed – was soon forgotten by the gold that came with the mixed 4×1250 relay that closed the continental event.

After Italy won yet another medal, Greg commented on the moment of Italian swimming to RAI microphones, “We are very strong, very strong. We won some times, we lost others, but we always stayed in the medal zone. Today there were the right conditions to win. It closes a European Championships that has seen us as protagonists in everything, I am very happy for the team. We are working well, the path to Paris is going god,” said Paltrinieri, who already launched the challenge ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
