Terrible tragedy on Marmolada: at least 8 dead, several missing

The death toll caused by the collapse of a huge serac on the Marmolada is tragic and unfortunately still provisional. In addition to eight confirmed dead there are a dozen missing. Eight are currently injured.

Gianpaolo Bottacin, Veneto regional councillor for civil protection, told the ANSA news agency. “The situation is evolving,” he was quick to point out on Sunday afternoon, “at present it is difficult to give a certain account of what has happened. I am constantly informing the head of the Civil Protection Department Fabrizio Curcio.”
