US Open: the decision on Novak Djokovic is finally here
US Open: the decision on Novak Djokovic is here.
Novak Djokovic will not be able to participate in the US Open. In fact, the latest update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reads, “For non-U.S. citizens, it is mandatory to show proof of complete first cycle vaccination at COVID-19 before boarding the flight to the United States.”
The Serbian tennis player entrusted Twitter with his remarks, “Unfortunately, this time I will not be able to travel to New York for the US Open. Thank you #NoleFam for your messages of love and support. Best of luck to my fellow players! I will keep in good shape and try to keep a positive spirit waiting for the opportunity to compete again. See you soon tennis world!”
In recent days John McEnroe had expressed his opinion on the Djokovic issue, “It’s not fair. I think it’s a joke. I would have taken the vaccine and gone out and played, but he has very strong beliefs and you have to respect them. At this point in the pandemic, after two and a half years, I think people in all parts of the world know more about it, and the idea that he can’t come here and play for me is a joke.”
